Summer 2007Dear Friends, We owe everyone a response to your e-mails so we decided to do a general response or it may be Christmas before you hear from us! We have just returned from a trip to Lancaster, Pa., where we enjoyed the “Psalms of David and In the Beginning”. We recommend them both. We then continued motoring to New Jersey to visit a dear friend Betsy, and the next day traveled to Denton, Maryland to be with Joe’s sister, Gail and her family. They planned a Baxter/Jensen reunion and it was just wonderful to see our girls and their families enjoy getting to know their cousins whom they had not met. We had a great time together. In June we attended the graduation of our first grandson, Caleb Hill, from Mansfield Christian Schools with high honors and he will be attending Cedarville University next month. He is excited about this new chapter in his life. Also our grandson, Jed Roberson, graduated from the eighth grade with high honors in California. We are proud of our grand children. Joe fulfilled a dream he has had of getting a greenhouse here in Mansfield. He missed the one he constructed in Quito, which produced so well in the ideal climate. During the process of putting in the foundation he slipped and injured his right knee which required a cortisone injection, and later his left knee also needed the same treatment. Now he is doing better and is enjoying harvesting peppers, tomatoes, egg plants, zucchini and cucumbers. During his recovery Ruth needed to do the lawns, walk little Misty, and be his private chauffeur. A week ago Ruth experienced some back pain with numbness in her left thigh. It kept her from getting much sleep due to the pain, and finally yesterday she saw her family Doctor who diagnosed her with shingles on her left thigh. This afternoon they will do an MRI of her back and we trust this problem will be solved soon since we are planning an August Mission Cruise with Dr. Ron Cline to Alaska with some of our friends. We also plan to visit Ruth’s Mother, Louise Huber in Spokane, on our return. We’ve experienced a very dry summer and have been asking the Lord to send us some rain. Joe has been kept busy with watering the lawn and flowers to keep them alive. Our church is undergoing a large construction project and we are excited to see the plans develop so we can accommodate the need for a larger facility to help meet the needs of our expanding church ministries. Trust this finds you all well and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. He has been so good.
