Kendal Highlights July 2009

MINISTRY IN OTHER CHURCHES

These past two months we have traveled to different cities, teaching the Word in various churches. It is our desire that the brethren be challenged to become more Christ-like in their daily walk. Last Sunday as we talked with two leaders in a Celaya church, we were encouraged to see their spiritual maturity and discernment. These two young men were part of the youth group when we were in Celaya in the 1980’s. Being the second generation of Christians in their families makes a difference and reminded us of the importance of the youth ministry in the San Juan church today. Pray for the youth in the CAM churches here in central Mexico as the worldly pull is always strong.

MINISTRY IN SAN JUAN DEL RIO

In recent months the youth in this church have become more active in reaching out in evangelism. They have gone out to the city parks for tract distribution and to talk to people about the Lord. These photos show some of their activities.

The youth organized this evangelistic outreach in a city park. They invited this young lady, a concert pianist from Romania, who gave a clear testimony of her salvation between each number she played. About 200 people gathered around to listen. Tracts were given out and the seed of the Word of God was sown.

English Club

Our grandchildren, Josiah and Brianna, began an English Club for young neighborhood children on Saturday afternoons at the Community Outreach Center. Praise the Lord that a family whose kids have attended came to the church on Sunday morning.

Recently a work team came from a church in Alabama. In four days of hard work they laid this big cement slab. Now the youth can plan evangelism outreaches through basketball or volleyball.

Last week the Community Center and the church sponsored a Medical Brigade. Some nurses from Missouri teamed up with Christian doctors and a dentist from Mexico City. Flyers went out to the neighborhood, and in two days they gave free medical help to over 100 people. Each one heard a personal explanation of the Gospel and over 30 made professions of faith in Christ. Please pray for the San Juan church members as they follow-up with these new contacts.

MINISTRY IN TEXAS AND POINTS NORTH

Next week we will be driving to Texas and we will have time to work on writing projects at our place at the border. In mid-July we will travel to Wisconsin with stops along the way, ministering at a church in south-central MN and another in WI. After a family reunion and 50th anniversary celebration in WI, we will head back to the Texas/Mexico border. We will stop at the Hispanic church in Austin, TX the second weekend of August, to give four teachings on "How to Develop a More Christ-like Life."

Please pray for safety and good weather for traveling, and for the ministry in the three churches.

MINISTRY TO THE WORLD, VIA INTERNET

ObreroFiel (Faithful Worker) is the name of the website for Christian leaders in the Spanish speaking world. Some of our CAM missionaries and others have their Bible studies and teachings posted on this website for free downloading. Those who monitor the site find that Spanish speakers from over 50 countries have looked for information and help. There are always more than 24,000 “visits” to the site each month. Daniel enjoys writing for ObreroFiel and has many of his studies already posted. He recently came across old notebooks filled with Bible study outlines from the years of ministry in Guatemala. The last weeks of August will be spent at the border, revising these study notes and Beverly will be typing them into the computer. Pray for the work of revising and preparing these studies so they can be added to the website.

Thank you for your partnership in prayer,
