On Sickness And God's Glory

  It is short-sighted, in the extreme, to proclaim that sickness has no place in the Christian life. This is true for several reasons.

1. Foremost - it ignores the example of Scripture.

2. It ignores the teaching of Scripture.

3. It place man & his benefit  at the center of what God considers the highest good.

4. It makes man the determiner or interpreter of what is good.

5. It makes man the determiner or interpreter of what can & cannot serve God's purposes.

6. It makes "now" most important at the expense of later.

7. It promotes pride & self-centeredness at the expense of humility.

8. It leaves little place for suffering.
