Saints of
God:

Another implication of the truth that we are "Saints" is the idea of that such an identity is not just a private matter, but rather should be a part of our public persona. Holiness is not something you can hide. Nor is it something that you can just set aside, or forget about. It is not something that you can turn on and turn off at will. Holiness speaks of something very basic about your character. Something that is so basic, so fundamental, that, in away, it is you. This is certainly true our heavenly Father. His holiness, perhaps in conjunction with his sovereignty, are his foremost attributes. God can no more be unholy then he can stop being eternal. Holiness is such a fundamental part his being, that it is inconceivable to think of him without that attribute. Because God is holy, he behaves in a holy fashion. His character is demonstrated his actions. There is no dichotomy between his being and his behavior. Sadly, many people in society at large, and in the church in particular, live as if there was such a dichotomy. How many times have we heard something along lines of: "Just because I did X and Y, it doesn’t make me a bad person." That’s because many people see a division between they are and what they do. This division is unBiblical. Rather, the Bible teaches that what we do demonstrates what we really are, no matter what we think or proclaim. That God calls us holy argues that we are, indeed holy. If we are indeed holy, that are conduct should demonstrate that holiness. In other words, we’re saints of God and we should live like it. |
