If there is any single attribute that belongs
under the heading "Supernal Perfections," it is God's
intrinsic glory.

No matter how much glory God may have bestowed on
any of these created being, there is a greater kind of glory that he
retains unto himself and will not communicate to men or angels.

God's glory and the manifestation of that glory to
his creation, is the ultimate purpose and end of all of his creative
and redemptive acts.

No creature can have a more lofty role than to
bring glory to his creator.
1. As creator of all things, God is entitled to the
greatest glory.

1 Chronicles 16:28-29
- Ascribe to the Lord, O ye families of nations, ascribe to the Lord
glory and strength, ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the lord in
the splendor of his holiness.

Revelation 4:11 you are worthy, oh
Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created
all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.
2. God's essential glory surpasses the glory of all
created beings.

Exodus 15:11 - who among the Gods
is like you, O lord? Who is like you-- majestic in holiness, awesome
in glory, working wonders?
3. God will not share his own glory with any of his
created beings.

Psalm 115:1 - Not to us, O Lord,
not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and
faithfulness.

Isaiah 42:8 - I am the lord;
that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to
idols.

Isaiah 48:11 - for my own sake,
for my own sake, I do this. How
can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.
4. The Angels proclaim the glory of God.

Isaiah 6:3 - And they were calling to
one another: "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole
earth is full of his glory."

Luke 2:13,14 - Suddenly a great
company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and
saying, "Glory to God and the highest, and on earth peace to men
on whom his favor rests."
5. All of creation is obligated to ascribe glory to
God.

1 Chronicles 16:24
Declare His glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all
peoples.

Psalm19:1 The heavens declare the
glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King
eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory
forever and ever. Amen.
6. Sinful man cannot look upon the glory of God and
live.

Exodus 33:18-23 then Moses said,
"Now show me your glory. " and the Lord said, "I will
cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my
name, the Lord, in your presence.
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have
compassion on whom I will have compassion.
But," he said, "You cannot see my face, for no one
may see me and live." Then
the Lord said, "There's a place near me where you may stand on a
rock. When my glory
passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the Rock and cover you with my
hand until I have passed by. Then
I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not
be seen."

Exodus 40:35 Moses could not
enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled upon it, and
the glory of the lord filled the tabernacle.

Romans 3:22-24 This righteousness
from God comes to faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
There is no difference, for all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by
his grace to the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
7. Jesus Christ is the manifestation of God's
glory.

John 1:14 The word became flesh and
made his dwelling among us. We
have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only, who came from the
Father, full of grace and truth.

2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"
made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the
knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to him who was able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or
imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be
glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever
and ever! Amen.

Hebrews 1:3 The son is the
radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being,
sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the
right hand of the majesty in heaven.

Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus,
who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory
and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he
might taste death for everyone.

2 Peter 1:17 For he received
honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from
the majestic glory, saying, "This is my son, whom I love; with
him I am well pleased".
8. Jesus himself sought to glorify his father in
heaven.

John 8:50 I am not seeking glory for
myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge.

John 8:54 Jesus replied, "If I
glorify myself, my glory means nothing.
My father, who you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies
me".

John 17:4-5 I have brought you
glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.
And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I
had with you before the world began.

John 17:22 I have given them the glory
that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.
9. Believers are to glorify God in all that they
do.

Christ's return will be in the fullness of God's glory.

Matthew 24:30 at that time the
sign of the son of man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of
the earth will mourn. They
will see the son of man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power
and great glory.
